Episode S3:13: Michael Bedner

Michael Bedner, Executive Director, Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center

We are all here to assist each other in reaching our full potential.
— Tri-County Hour

My name Michael Bednar and I am a Florida native and a graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University. My wife and I live in Cape Coral Florida with our two sons and a library full of books. I grew up in south Florida where my dad owned and operated a carnivorous plant farm called Lee’s Botanical Gardens. If the plants didn’t eat you, my father also raised alligators, caiman, and snakes of all kinds.

My professional background includes working for parks and rec in both Collier County and the city of Cape Coral, where I used to tell my sons I was in charge of all the playgrounds. Now I work at the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center where our focus is Earth Science based curriculum, with an emphasis on conservation. My office is located in a 46,000-acre state park and I’m right where I’m supposed to be.
